Database Backup Instructions
Manually Backing Up MSAS System Data
To back up data from the MSAS system, use a Zip drive, CD burner, or other removable media device to store your backup files. Floppy disks do not have sufficient space for this type of storage.
- At the Windows desktop, click Start, then Programs, then BioMeridian International, and then Database Backup Wizard. This will start the MSAS System Database Backup Wizard.
- After reading the welcome screen, click Next.
- The next screen directs you to Select MSAS System database file. Click the Select different archive file . . . button.
- The Database Archive File window will appear. In the Save In field, click the (?) down arrow symbol.
- A drop-down menu will appear. Select the drive where the data will be saved.
Note: If using a Zip disk, look for your Zip drive in this menu. It will be located near the top of the screen below My Computer. If saving the data on a CD, you will need to follow the procedure for burning a CD as defined by your CD burning software. This may require you to save the back-up file somewhere on your C: drive, and then save it to the CD.
- After selecting the appropriate drive, click the Save button.
- Then click the Next button.
- Your computer will now record the database information on the ZIP disk, hard drive, or CD. This process will take several minutes.
- When the process is complete, click the Finish button to return to the desktop.
